The Dewey Kennedy Scholarship is open to Jr.
Shaggers 22 years old and younger that are planning to or are attending
college. The applicant must submit a written paper of no less than one
hundred and fifty (150) words describing (What person in your life has
taught you the most valuable lesson?) Proof of acceptance or enrollment
to an accredited college is required. This should be submitted to Ducks 229 Main St North Myrtle Beach, S. C.
29582 on or before April 30th of each year to be eligible. This will give
the committee time to choose a recipient before the presentation at the Grand
Nationals in Atlanta, Memorial Day weekend. The Dewey Kennedy Scholarship Fund was started in 1996 in memory of Dewey
Kennedy, who probably loved the dance, Jr. Shaggers, and the camaraderie as
much as anybody around. Norfleet Jones, Jackie McGee, and some guy
named Charlie, and the CSA Dancers thought the scholarship would be something
Dewey would appreciate and would help to keep alive a memory of Dewey and the
dance he loved. |
